Basil Barbecued Salmon Recipe.


Salmon is very healthy due to the it's high protein, high Omega-3 fatty acids, and high vitamin D content. Salmon flesh is usually orange to red, but could be white fleshed wild salmon. The natural colour of wild salmon is coming from eating krill and other tiny shellfish. They change the color and a meat quality when entering freshwater.
Cooked Salmon, dry heat, 1/2 fillet (5.4 oz/153g) provide 280 Calories, 39g of Protein, 0.0g of Carbohydrate, 12.5g of Total Fat, 0.0g of Fiber, 967mg of Potassium, 72mcg of Selenium, 15.5mg of Niacin and 57mg of Magnesium, 3.394 grams of omega-3 fatty acids, derived from Eicosapentaenoic Acid (0.629g), Docosahexaenoic Acid (2.186g), Alpha Lipoic Acid (0.578g).

Basil Barbecued Salmon Recipe - Recipe calling for salmon, lemon juice, garlic, Dijon mustard, and fresh basil. The best way to barbecue fish is to grill it over low heat, without turning it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (454 g) fresh Salmon (skin on), cut into 4 pieces
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) basil, freshly minced

Basil Barbecued Salmon Recipe

How to cook Basil Barbecued Salmon:

  • Wash the pieces of fish thoroughly under cold running water.
  • Place the salmon pieces in salt water and let it soak for 10 minutes.
  • Rinse well under cold running water, drain it well.
  • Arrange salmon pieces, skin underneath, side-by-side into a shallow glass dish. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl, whip together olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, Dijon mustard and minced basil.
  • Brush salmon pieces with marinade.
  • Cover dish with plastic wrap marinate salmon pieces, refrigerated, for 1 hour.
  • Then marinate for 30 minutes more, at room temperature.
  • Remove salmon pieces from marinade.
  • Preheat barbecue until low heated coals or preheat a gaz heated barbecue to low.
  • Arrange salmon pieces, skin underneath, onto oiled barbecue rack.
  • Close lid barbecue salmon pieces for 15 minutes, until salmon flesh is no longer translucent and can easily be broken-up with a fork.
  • Serve immediately.
